Editorial Methodology
Our process is designed to separate facts from marketing claims and direct evidence from indirect evidence.
1. Verify the product
We identify the current product, company, formula, Supplement Facts, serving information, directions, price, seller, guarantee and availability.
2. Classify claims
Information is treated as a verified product fact, seller claim, independent evidence, consumer report or unverified claim.
3. Evaluate evidence distance
We give more weight to exact finished-product human trials than to comparable formulations, ingredient studies, mechanistic evidence, anecdotes or seller claims.
4. Examine limitations
We consider dose differences, formulation differences, study size, population, conflicting sources and lack of finished-product testing.
5. Recheck commercial facts
Price, packages, shipping, subscriptions, guarantees and availability are time-sensitive and should carry a real last-checked date.
6. Correct material errors
Reliable newer information should replace outdated material rather than preserving an old statement simply because it previously ranked.
